Deze koffie is afkomstig uit Bumwambu in Oeganda en groeide op de vulkanische grond van het Elgon gebergte. De koffie werd verhandeld via het Friends of Mother Initiative, een intitiatief die enkel koffie inkoopt van vrouwelijke koffietelers. Het helpt de vrouwen om hun positie op de arbeidsmarkt en in de plantages te versterken want ze bieden heel wat ondersteuning om de kwaliteit van de koffie te verbeteren.
Qua smaak herkennen we een zeer volle smaak met gedroogd fruit en cacao.
De bonen zijn gewassen, dit betekent dat de bessen na het plukken gespoeld worden tot het vruchtvlees verdwijnt en dan gedroogd worden in de zon op droogbedden.
This coffee finds its origin in the region of Bumwambu in Uganda en grew on the vulcanic soils of mount Elgon. The beans were traded by the Friends Of Mother initiative, this is an organisation that only buys coffee from female farmers. It helps women to empower their position in the plantation and the coffee market in general, since they offer a lot of support to increase the quality of the coffee beans.
In the tasting notes we recognise a full body with hints of dried fruit and cacao.
The beans are washed, this means that de cherries are washed after being picked until the pulp dissapears. Afterwards they are put to dry in the sun.
